The Pro quickstart of a rebuilt LTHEME Joomla template includes a one-page version of the home page: the home page’s sections on one page, with a menu of scroll links to them, smooth scrolling and the current section highlighted.

One-page mode is a Pro feature: it is set up by the quickstart package of Pro Standard and Pro Unlimited. The Free edition is the template package only and does not include it.

The one-page version is being added to the templates one by one. A template that has it shows a One-page mode (Pro) section in its docs, with a link to its one-page demo. Templates with a one-page version:

What the quickstart sets up

  • An SP Page Builder page Home (one-page) with the sections of the home page.
  • A menu One-page menu (menu type onepage). It holds the hidden menu item Home (one-page) (alias one-page, Display in Menu: No) that opens the page, and one URL menu item per home page section, with the link # plus the section’s CSS ID (for example #services) and the section’s name as its label.
  • A copy of the template style named (template name) – One-page, whose Helix menu and off-canvas menu show the One-page menu. It is assigned to the hidden Home (one-page) item, so only the one-page version uses it.
  • A Custom HTML module One-page version: scroll menu (current section) in the position debug, shown only on the Home (one-page) item: it marks the menu link of the section in view. Smooth scrolling comes from the template’s custom.css.

Open it at the address of the hidden item, for example https://yoursite.com/one-page (/index.php/one-page when URL rewriting is off). Your normal home page and inner pages stay as they are.

Make it the home page

  1. Go to Menus → One-page menu.
  2. Click the star (Home column) of the Home (one-page) item, or open it and set Default Page to Yes, then save.
  3. Open your domain: it now shows the one-page version with its scroll menu. The inner pages still work at their own addresses.

To go back, make the Home item of the Main Menu the default again.

  • Labels and order: in Menus → One-page menu, rename an item or drag it to another place.
  • Leave a section out: unpublish its menu item (keep the hidden Home (one-page) item published).
  • Add a link: New, Menu Item Type System Links → URL, link # plus the section’s CSS ID. The CSS ID is the id in the HTML of the section’s Text Block in SP Page Builder (open Home (one-page), edit the section’s text block and look at its first element, for example <section id="services">).

Change the sections

Home (one-page) is its own SP Page Builder page (Components → SP Page Builder → Pages). A change on Home does not change it: make the same change on both pages if you want them alike. If you change a section’s id, change its menu link too.

Keep the one-page style in step

The one-page version uses its own template style, (template name) – One-page. Changes you make in the Template Options of the main style (logo, colours, fonts, header, footer, custom code) need the same change in the One-page style; open it in System → Site Template Styles. CSS in the template’s custom.css file applies to both styles.

Do not unpublish or move the module One-page version: scroll menu (current section): without it the menu still scrolls, but the current section is no longer highlighted.

Free edition and template package

The template package (the only package in Free) installs the design without demo pages, menus or modules, so it has no one-page version. Upgrade to a Pro edition to get the quickstart: Quickstart.

Troubleshooting

  • A link does not scroll: its URL must be # plus the section’s CSS ID, exactly (letters, case and dashes).
  • The normal menu shows instead of the scroll links: the Home (one-page) item must use the One-page template style (menu item → Template Style, or the style’s Menu Assignment).
  • No section is highlighted: check that the module above is published, in position debug, and assigned to the Home (one-page) item. Then clear Joomla’s cache (System → Clear Cache).
